Baby Memory Blanket – when clothes become memories

A baby memory blanket is a gentle and lasting way to transform your child's clothes into an object filled with emotion.

First pajamas, a onesie that quickly became too small, an outfit full of memories or even stained by everyday life…
These textiles often sleep in a box, an attic, or a basement, because we are unable to part with them.

In my workshop Myloa in Wavre, I transform these clothes into a handmade memory blanket, soft, durable, and deeply symbolic.
Each square is designed to preserve what matters: the memory that clings to it and the details that tell a story.

How is the memory blanket made?

The blanket is made from 15 × 15 cm squares, cut directly from the clothes sent.

It includes:

  • a patchwork made from your child's clothes
  • a soft and comforting backing
  • a padding option for a fluffy duvet version
  • the possibility to embroider a name, a date, or a text

A bound finish is offered: the backing fabric is brought to the front to frame the patchwork and provide a warm and high-end look.

Two possible versions

Duvet Version (with padding)
A thick and enveloping finish, ideal for a warm and structured blanket.

Plaid Version (without padding)
Softer and lighter, perfect for cuddles, the couch, or a decorative blanket.

Available sizes and number of clothes

Small size – about 60 × 75 cm
Designed for early memories, cradle size.
→ About 20 squares → plan for 20 clothes

Medium size – about 100 × 150 cm
Ideal for a child's room or to gather many textiles.
→ About 60 squares → plan for 60 clothes

Large size – about 150 × 200 cm
Generous size, suitable for a double bed.
→ About 130 squares → plan for 130 clothes

Some clothes (dresses, sleeping bags, sizes 12–24 months) allow for multiple squares to be cut, which can reduce the total number of pieces needed.

Most materials are suitable, except for very thin or fragile fabrics (light lace, scarves…).

FAQ

A keepsake blanket is a textile creation made from existing clothes, usually those of a baby or child. Rather than keeping these clothes in a box, they are cut into squares and then assembled into a patchwork to create a unique blanket.

The objective is not just aesthetic. It's about transforming textiles steeped in history into a useful object that allows you to keep these memories close to you.

The manufacturing time is approximately 2 weeks from the receipt of your clothes at the workshop. This time is necessary to carefully design your keepsake blanket, cut each piece and assemble the patchwork harmoniously.

Once your order has been placed, you will receive a prepaid shipping label to easily send your clothes. As soon as your creation is finished, it will be shipped and you will receive a tracking number to follow your package.

During periods of high demand (holidays, births, etc.), the processing time may be slightly extended.

The memory blanket is primarily a textile souvenir, designed to preserve clothes steeped in history. It can be used as a throw, a decorative blanket or an extra blanket, but it cannot be considered a product meeting the safety standards for baby articles.

It is therefore not intended to be handled as a toy or used unsupervised by a young child. Its use remains under the responsibility of an adult, especially for infants.

Important information to keep in mind

  • the blanket is made from your clothes, which will be cut to create the patchwork
  • unused clothes will be returned to you
  • it is a souvenir item, designed to last and preserve the emotion linked to the textiles sent

To preserve the garments used and the durability of your keepsake blanket, hand washing is recommended:

  • Delicate hand wash
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Lay flat to dry
  • Do not iron the embroidered area

These precautions help protect the original fabrics, which often vary in material and thickness, as well as the embroidery. Gentle care ensures your blanket retains its appearance and history over time.

  • You value your clothes instead of storing them. Your clothes are no longer unused: they become a tangible, visible, and everyday object.
  • You create a lasting emotional object. Unlike a memory box, the blanket integrates into your daily life and withstands the test of time.
  • You keep a record of the early years. Each square preserves a detail, a pattern, or a material that recalls a specific period in your baby's life.
  • You get a unique creation. No two blankets are alike, as each depends entirely on the chosen clothes and their history.
  • You combine aesthetics and meaning. The patchwork is crafted to be visually harmonious while respecting the clothes' past.
  • You choose a versatile object. A decorative throw, a bedspread, a comforting object... the blanket adapts to different uses depending on the chosen size.
